At the University of Maryland's Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Tim Jones and his team are responsible for finding or creating props for about eight theatrical productions a year. As props shop manager, Jones attends production meetings to hear what props will be needed, and to offer his feedback. On October 5, 2018, Jones heard proposals presented by graduate students for upcoming opera productions. Students hope Jones can provide the props needed to match their visions, including chandeliers, headboards and even a stretcher. In an off-campus warehouse, Jones keeps a robust inventory of props. Each item is assigned a unique alphanumeric code and is logged into a database for easy retrieval. Jones travels from New Jersey to Georgia to find items for upcoming productions, and what he cannot find, he makes. With the assistance of about ten student assistants, Jones is able to provide just the right props to complete almost any production at the Clarice. Tim Jones lis
